Home Park Master Plans

Home Park has two master plans that have been adopted into the City of Atlanta’s Comprehensive Development Plan as the neighborhood’s community based vision and strategic roadmap on how Home Park should grow and prosper. The first one was completed in 2002. The second one was part of the D3 Westside Revive plan and completed in 2017. Although this plan encompassed all the District 3 neighborhoods, each neighborhood had their own plan within the plan. It’s important to note that in the 15 years between both master plans being completed, that the community was still in sync with the original master plan on many different levels; and for that reason, both of them work hand in hand to provide developmental guidance to the neighborhood.

Implementation of the Home Park Master Plans

In early 2022, Home Park residents decided it was time to start implementing some of the recommendations in the two master plans.  To that end, they collaborated with the Georgia Tech School of City and Regional Planning on a study that would provide direction  for implementation of the plans recommendations.  In Fall 2022, graduate students from the Georgia Tech  School of City & Regional Planning conducted a planning study for Atlanta’s Home Park neighborhood. Over several months, the Georgia Tech Studio Team examined existing conditions in the neighborhood, gathered feedback from Home Park residents and business owners, reviewed existing historical Home Park master plans, and collaborated with our Community Partners including Atlanta Regional Commission, Upper Westside Community Improvement District, Home Park Community Improvement Association, Park Pride, GDOT, and Atlanta DOT.  The team’s final report delivered recommendations for improving the Home Park neighborhood through initiatives in the following areas: Transportation, Housing, Land Use, Urban Design, and Parks & Greenspace.”  The link to that plan can be found below:
