Public Safety in Home Park

Information on crime, traffic, parking, and code enforcement

Crime

This is the city. We'd be lying if we said there is no crime in Home Park. Property crimes are the most common (car break-ins, burglaries) but we have occasionally had other problems. However, we have an expanding crime watch program, bolstered by many caring "nosy" neighbors. We take pride in knowing who our neighbors are. Our beat officers are extremely responsive and helpful, and know many residents by sight if not by name. We regularly publish crime prevention tips for our residents (also listed on this website) and residents are kept informed of reported incidents (forewarned is forearmed).

  • Read Common Sense Safety Tips
  • Court Watch
Because many crimes in Home Park are perpetuated by the same repeat offenders, the community has set up a Court Watch Program.  We work in cooperation with the Fulton County District Attorney's Office Community Prosecutor.  The purpose of this program is to attend court hearings of repeat offenders and demonstrate community interest in the case.  Our goal is increasing jail time for habitual offenders that prey on our neighborhood.  We hope to accomplish this by reminding the prosecutor and the court of the impact on our community.  Contact us by email at hpcia@yahoo.com if you would like to participate in upcoming hearings.

Traffic

Home Park is realizing additional traffic due to the closing of 14th St due to the construction of the 14th Street bridge. The Public Safety Committee has been working with city officials to develop a plan for better control of traffic in the neighborhood.

Parking

Home Park has many streets that are resident-only parking. Cars must have a permit displayed on the window to park on these streets or they will be ticketed. To learn more about Home Park's permit parking program and to obtain an application for a permit, please follow this link.

Code Enforcement

  • Litter and Illegal Dumping
Do you have an old couch you need to get rid of? Be sure to call Bulk Pickup 404-330-6333 and schedule to have that and any other large items taken away. When we look as if we respect and care for our environment, we reduce the likelihood of attracting criminals. Check out Keep Georgia Beautiful for more information.
